We’ve got used to seeing celebrities getting married and, a few years or even months later, divorced. They keep falling in and out of love, finding new lovers and giving up on them over and over again.
There are too few famous people who would stay with their partners for longer than a couple of years or even months. Yet most of us, not so famous, rich, and successful dream of a happy marriage. Are there positive examples in the show industry we could admire and even follow? I’ve spent some time looking for couples we all have heard of who have been through thick and thin and have no intention of leaving each other. I was pleasantly surprised to find out that there are a few couples that consider marriage something special. Here is a list of 10 famous couples whom we genuinely can call ‘families’.
1. Sarah Jessica Parker and Matthew Broderick
These two stars got married in 1997. They have 3 children. They have been officially married for 15 years which is probably one of the longest star marriages. They have managed to prove that being a movie star, a faithful partner and an excellent parent all at the same time is really possible. Their priority is their family and relationships, not money. This is what other Hollywood stars should realize if they also want to have happy private lives.
2. Goldie Hawn and Kurt Russell
Hawn was 21 when she first met her husband-to-be Kurt Russell. Back then he was only 16, four years younger than Goldie. They are not officially married, but that seems to make no difference to them – they still love each other. Goldie has a daughter, Kate Hudson by name. Although the girl is not Russell’s biological daughter, she regards Kurt as her father. They are good friends and they support each other. Hawn and Russell’s biological child is Wyatt, a young man of 26.
3. Tom Hanks and Rita Wilson
These two super celebrities got married in 1988 and have been together ever since. A quarter of a century – quite impressive, indeed. Some find them to be a perfect couple. That might be true. The couple have two children. Their sons Chester and Truman. Hanks has another two children, Elizabeth and Colin, from his first marriage. Tom Hanks is obviously in love with his woman. In one of his interviews he admitted that he wouldn’t like his wife to change – in his view she is absolutely adorable. They are a great example, aren’t they?
4. Victoria and David Beckham
Victoria and David got married in 1999. They invited only 29 closest people to their wedding ceremony. Whether you like them or not, the fact is that theirs is one of the most successful partnerships. What’s the secret of their solid marriage? Of course, that’s Love! That’s the reason why we always see them so happy and smiling whenever we turn our TVs on.
5. Iman and David Bowie
Both of them are popular, although their professions differ. David is a rock star while Iman is a model. More than that, their cultural backgrounds are also different – a Brit and a Somalian – an amazing combination! They have been married since 1992 and have one child – daughter Alexandria Zahra. Their secret is David’s good sense of humour. He knows how to make his wife smile. Who would leave such a husband! They make a lovely couple. Let’s hope they will stay together forever.
6. Gwen Stefani and Gavin Rossdale
Gwen and Gavin got married in 2002 and have been together ever since. They have two sons. These sexy musicians admitted that their ultimate collaboration resulted in two adorable and talented children. They are really proud of their kids and each other.
7. Freddie Prinze Jr. and Sarah Michelle Prinze (Gellar)
Sarah and Freddie got married in 2002 as well, just like the couple I’ve mentioned above – Stefani and Rossdale. Who knows, maybe the number 2002 is lucky? Sarah first met her beloved in 1997. Three years later they got married. On their 5th anniversary Sarah decided to change her surname to Prinze.
8. Michael Douglas and Catherine Zeta Jones
These two super stars got married in 2000. Douglas admires his wife and keeps saying that his wife is the most wonderful woman. Catherine, in her turn, supports her husband, loves and deeply respects him.
9. Ali Hewson and Bono
Bono is not an easy person to live with. This is what his wife says. Nevertheless, their relationship is strong. Ali and Bono married in 1982. The couple have four children – beautiful girls named Memphis Eve and Jordan and two handsome boys named John Abraham and Elijah Bob Patricius Guggi Q. Are they all happy? No doubt!
10. Rhea Perlman and Danny DeVito
Just thinking of these two celebrities can make any of us smile. Not only are they the funniest people in Hollywood, they also belong to those whose marriage bonds are the most harmonious. They got married in the winter of 1982. They have three children – one son, Jacob by name and two girls, Grace and Lucy. In 2012 it was absolutely devastating for fans to hear that DeVito and Perlman might divorce after 30 years of marriage. Yet the spouses were wise enough to find a way out, solve conflicts and misunderstandings and stay together.
