MAPIC Italy, the Italian edition of MAPIC – the world’s leading event in the retail real estate sector – will take place on the 24th and 25th of May at the Superstudio Più in Milan.
Oscar Farinetti has a long entrepreneurial history. Since 1978 he has helped transform the supermarket UniEuro, founded by his father, into a large distribution chain. In 2007 he founded Eataly in Turin, the first supermarket in the world dedicated to the discovery, tasting and sale of high-quality, artisanal Italian food. Today Eataly is synonymous with product diversity, quality, craftsmanship, and its unique model has been enthusiastically received around the world, with boutiques throughout Italy as well as New York, Tokyo and Dubai.
With a wealth of knowledge and experience in both the Italian and international retail markets, Oscar Farinetti is perfectly placed to speak about why Italy is a special country for retailers. The session will look at business opportunities in the retail industry in Italy, as well as retailer’s expectations and success stories. High streets, shopping malls, outlets….just how attractive is Italy for retailers? What are the key factors for success in meeting consumers’ needs? How important are strategic partnerships to succeed? These questions will be the crux of the session, as they reflect the key topics that will most likely be debated and discussed by MAPIC Italy’s attending retailers throughout the two-day event.
Two other sessions will make up the trio of conference events at MAPIC Italy. ‘Market Overview – Italian Retail Property Panorama’ (Wednesday, May25), will investigate the Italian real estate portfolio: existing sites and new developments, as well as the DNA heritage of real estate in Italy. Finally, ‘Invest in Italy: vibrant assets for foreign investments’ (Wednesday, May 25), will take a look at the respective merits of high streets versus shopping malls and at the investment strategies throughout the country.
